This book may exaggerate many, if not all, things in Melindas life as those a steriotypical teen wuld go through.Howwever, i feel that it can accurately describe the FEELINGS of a steriotypicl one.
I think Melinda's situation is obviously not normal, but I do think there are girls out there that have gone through a similar time in high school - finding out who they are, finding friends, and dealing with a scaring memory.
This book describes how this certain teen dealt with the pain of being raped and no one understanding why she did what she did. It's also a teen trying to figure out who she is and where she should go with her life after something so drastic.

In response to Emily's comment, I don't think it is over exaggerated-if that's what you mean, I'm not completely sure what you meant.
